In 1988, the entire country was stuck by a devastating flood. As Tangail district is located on the banks of Jumuna and Dhaleshari rivers, the severity of the flood was unprecedented due to which most of the families have been badly affected.
A group of social workers came forward extending their cooperation with necessary emergency relief materials and other necessary assistance to ultra poor and poor families. In 1991 Social Advancement Through Unity- SATU was established.
